Question: How do i remove rust from cheap flatware?

I got a set of flatware (4 spoons, 4 forks, and 4 knives) for $2.00 at walgreens so I know it's cheap. How can I remove the rust until I can buy a better set?

Scrub with lemon juice.

Maybe some fine steel wool. or get better quality stuff from the Goodwill

Use Soft Scrub, it will not harm the surface and will not make them look all scratch up.

I use steel wool or Soft Scrub cleanser, but on cheep flatware, it just comes back.

You can use a product called "Iron Out "...available here: google.com/ products?q= %22iron… To keep the rust from returning, wash the flatware by hand and let it air dry. Dishwasher detergent is harsh and usually contains bleach. If you wash the flatware in the dishwasher, the rust will return. You can buy new flatware at Target. Target is a decent name, and I'm sure their flatware can withstand the dishwasher. (I checked the first set listed and the description states it is dishwasher safe.) These all cost less than $25 a set: target.com/ s/ ref= sr_ln_8?ie= U… I don't recommend the sets with the rivets...rivets tend to rust...but there are a few sets offered that are solid, one-piece utensils. Some of them are good-looking, too.
