I have roaches in my kitchen, where are they coming from and how do I stop them?
A couple of years ago, roaches were frequently appearing in my kitchen of my apartment. My family and I suspected that they were living somewhere. So, we finally decided to strip the kitchen apart and have it redone. So, we took everything apart. When we removed the cabinets, we found TONS of them living behind the cabinet, but they were all dead. Long story short the kitchen was ENTIRELY stripped and cleaned. It was repainted and new cabinets were put in. New tiles were put in as well. Since then, we ve kept this kitchen spick and span to prevent this infestation from happening again. But lately about a year later since we had the kitchen redone , we ve noticed some roaches again. We ve checked everywhere in the kitchen and it s as clean as can be. And it s only the kitchen too. The rest of the apartment is roach free. So, we came to the conclusion that maybe they re either coming from the drain of the sink or the vent. I m thinking it s the drain because every time we catch them, they re near the sink. A couple of days ago I ve always kept the stopper on the drain hoping it will be a solution. Haven t saw any roaches since then, but it s been only a couple of days.So do you think they re coming from the drain?? If so, how are they living there? Don t they get drowned and flushed away from the water??
Can i use velvet acrylic latex paint for the kitchen?
Hi I have a lot of beauti tone velvet acrylic latex paint and a lot of kilz. I was wondering if i could use it to paint the kitchen if I use kilz first. The old homeowner was a smoker so the kilz will cover that up but I wonder if using it means I do not have to get special paint for the kitchen and the bathroom. thanks
Can I use a sump pump for a kitchen sink?
I'm adding a kitchen into our basement and want to put in a kitchen sink and a dishwasher. Since sewage pumps cost a LOT of money I was wondering if I can get by with a sealed and vented sump pump system. This system would ONLY be used for the kitchen and would drain into the sewer and vent to the roof. My concern is that the pump would become clogged because of the strainer that most pumps have on them. Since food particles are rather small would it be ok to simply remove the strainer and allow these particles to be pumped? To Mark I didn't ask for a link for expensive pumps... I want to know if I can use a sump pump because they're CHEAPER...
What is a quick way to update kitchen cabinets?
I would like to update the kitchen cabinets without it being a week long project or emptying my updating budget. They are in good shape, but the current color will not match the new countertops I'm putting in, plus they have a " country" feel to them which is not my style. I would like them to be much much darker and then add new hardware. And they are not custom, so they can easily be moved out around the kitchen as needs be.Basically, which is easier...staining or just painting? Is painting even a good idea or will it look tacky? If you did a project like this, how long did it take you? Any other suggestions to quickly and cost effectively update the cabinets? Thanks
If you are a renter how can you cover up old gold vinyl in the kitchen?
The vinyl also has tears in it as well. And, you cannot place an area rug where the tear is because it is where the carpet and vinyl meet.

Kitchen smoke cause greasy surfaces?
I have just moved into a new house and our kitchen, dining, and lounge area is all one open plan space. I love the place aesthetically speaking, but I have a concern...With having the kitchen and lounge etc in one open space, will cooking fumes from the kitchen cause all my surfaces in this area to get greasy? I am worried about smoke etc drifting around and blowing grease oil all over, we have an extractor fan but they only do so much. Is this just a silly thought and my slight O.C.D playing tricks on me lol Anybody live in a similar setup and have you noticed this to be a problem?thanks in advance
Kitchen paint help. Hate the color it turned out to be.?
Hate the yellow that I just painted my kitchen. Dried much differently than I had anticipated. It's school bus yellow now. Any ideas on correcting it with sponge painting, etc? Instead of repainting basecoat?
